Senate Passes A Comprehensive Immigration Bill
After months of heated debate surrounding the topic of immigration in the United States, the U.S. Senate has passed a comprehensive immigration bill. “The legislation includes money to better secure the borders, provide a new guest worker program and give an eventual shot at citizenship to many of the estimated 11 million to 12 million immigrants in the country illegally.” The bill, however, has yet to become law. The Senate now must enter talks with the House in order to develop a compromise regarding the immigration legislation, as the House had formerly passed an enforcement-only bill, which did not make it through the Senate.
